Our Story

This website was created so that long time Jimmy Buffett fans could relive some of the glory parrothead days  before the internet.  We are attempting to digitize the entire catalog of Coconut Telegraph newsletters that were mailed (yes - U.S. postal mail) to subscribers beginning in 1985 and running through approximately 2014. This is how Jimmy Buffett and Margaritaville communicated with parrotheads, and of course sold a lot of cool merchandise before everything was just a click away on the internet. We eagerly awaited each new issue. Our best guess is that 185 separate issues were sent out between 1985 and 2014.  

This website is a work in progress. Thus far we have  located, scanned, and uploaded nearly all of the  185 unique issues of the Coconut Telegraph. Historically, you must remember the times that these were written, for example in the August 1986, vol. 2, no. 8 issue  we read about "the latest word on the eagerly awaited Margaritaville Movie .... filming will begin in November!" , something that unfortunately never actually happened. We have also made it a point to include every page of merchandising that was included. So many great products. If only we had a time machine and a credit card to go back and purchase these. 

We are only missing a few issues. We will not rest until we have them all.
